For our last full day in China, we did a lot of sight-seeing. Our first stop was at a temple, where we participated in a Chinese Tea Ceremony and saw Jade Buddhas. We were also able to go to a Chinese garden. I especially enjoyed this because we learned about them in my Chinese Art History class. I was able to see the unique-shaped rocks, coy pond, and circular door and window shapes prominent in these types of gardens. There was a nearby shopping area with tons of shops. I met some boys from Japan who helped me order some sort of traditional cabbage roll for lunch. We also went to what used to be the highest building in the world. Since this was our first clear day in Shanghai it was great to get some pictures from the tower. We ended our day at the Chinese Wal-Mart. Their Wal-Mart was quite different from ours. There were salesmen in the store trying to entice customers and escalators to a second floor for non-food items. They even had their own bus system to bring in consumers!
