Jumbo Seafood (Photo Essay by Lauren, Lauren, and Michael)

Our activities were canceled the day of out flight to Shanghai so for our photo essay, we decided to capture dinner from Tuesday's night at Jumbo Seafood!

Jumbo Kingdom is a world-famous floating restaurant, an internationally renowned tourist attraction as the largest floating restaurant in the world and a must-visit place in Hong Kong. This jumbo floating restaurant is located at Aberdeen Harbour in Shum Wan Pier Drive, Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong. The Jumbo Kingdom was established in October 1976 and has entertained more than 30 million visitors, including Queen Elizabeth II, Tom Cruise, and John Wayne. The floating restaurant specializes in fresh seafood fare and offers over 100 delectable seafood dishes, as well as traditional Cantonese cuisine and dim sum.

Jumbo Kingdom is a member of Melco's Leisure & Entertainment unit, consisting of two floating restaurants, namely the Jumbo and the Tai Pak

Jumbo Kingdom accentuates the ocean on which it floats and highlights the city skyline to create a sense of awe and stupefaction




The floating restaurant itself is a living history book with embellishments of gold and marble, retelling the story of old on its walls and honoring Hong Kong's ruling dynasties with the emblems of royal furniture


Hong Kong, a little fishing village where Chinese emperors would send their punished officials, was first inhabited by the Hakka people. The four big clans were the Liu, Man, Pang, and Tang. Each clan, and its numerous branches, took up residence in what is today considered the New Territories. With scant natural resources and hilly terrain, the indigenous peasants and fishermen survived on the island's few and precious assets until European visitors set foot on the territory and changed its history. This wall depicts the colonial influences of the Chinese dynasties and the ravaging between different tribes.

Our night was filled with laughter and good conversations throughout our thirteen course meal

The crabs would later become stuffed balls with crab meat and special sauce

 
The two-and-a-half hour dinner ended with filled stomachs and a readiness to crawl into bed for a restful sleep before the next adventure of our trip began.
