This morning we met Jeffrey and Christine Fang, UW-Madison alumni, who have been very successful in the retail business. Jeffrey had a very interesting presentation and we learned a lot about the retail market in Asia.
We had a very busy day sightseeing today. We went to Lantau Island to see the Big Buddha and monastery. We drove up the mountains to get there and the scenery was beautiful. It was a huge change from the city life in Hong Kong. The Big Buddha sat at the top of 250 stairs. The Buddha was enormous. Once we were at the top, it was very peaceful and serene. The view was unbelievable.
Then we drove to Stanley, a peninsula on the southeastern part of Hong Kong Island. We went to Stanley Market and did some more shopping and ate lunch. After the market, it was a short drive to The Peak (Victoria Peak). The Peak offered a gorgeous, panoramic view of the city.
We made it to Victoria Harbor in time to see the light show that takes place every night at 8pm. The city lights up with flashing lights and lasers and the lights dance to music. The show lasts for about 15 minutes. After the light show, we boarded the Aqua Luna, a traditional red-sail Chinese junk boat. The boat was really cool and looked like an old pirate ship. We were surprised to see that the boat had comfy lounge beds and a chic lounge atmosphere. We sailed around Victoria Harbor for about 45 minutes and took in the amazing views of the city glowing around us.
