Ni Hao Fellow Travelers

What a long and exciting day it has been. The day began at 5am sitting at Memorial Union talking to Dean Robin Douthitt for half-an-hour while waiting for students and faculty to arrive.  I want to personally thank Dean Douthitt for showing up to wish us well on our trip, is was great talking to you! At 6:15 am we boarded our bus and departed for O'Hare International Airport and left the airport at around 12pm. After 15 hours and 3 delicious airfare meals later, we arrived in Hong Kong and were promptly greeted by Jasmine Cheng from Li & Fung. Jasmine had to orchestrate an additional bus last minute because we packed too much luggage and it wouldn't all fit on one bus, sorry. After taking a scenic trip through part of the city we arrived at our hotel and were amazed to see how small "small" actually meant when it came to the room size. We were given 2 hours to shower and relax before heading to dinner. What can I say except that dinner was amazing, there was almost everything imaginable to choose from, ranging from seafood to waffles, Italian bruschetta to exotic Asian fare. My two favorites were delicacies, namely Bamboo fungus and shark fin soup and Bird's nest with almond milk. After dinner a group of us stayed downstairs at the buffet with Professor Nancy Wong to learn more about Hong Kong and its culture. Looking forward to all that is in store for tomorrow.
